Sneak Peek: My 1st Ellie/ New Bears for Abracadabra Shop!

Here they are! The long awaited new gang I created for Abracadabra Teddies shop in UK! (drumroll please) And introducing my first ever ELEPHANT, little "Ellis Poe" :O) He is designed similar to my 'antiqued' bears with unjointed head. Ellis and the bears are all One-Of-A-Kinds! They should arrive in UK by end of next week...Abracadabra is taking advanced orders due to the holiday season, e-mail marsha@abracadabra-teddies.com. Hope this new bunch tickles your hearts. Giving Thanks

Happy Thanksgiving and warmest blessings to you all! Today is Chicago's first **snowfall** & what perfect timing; a nice day to stay snuggled indoors and heat up a cup of apple cider. It was an unusually warm 60 degrees just a day ago and golden maple leaves showered the sidewalks. I am thankful though, that it is feeling more like the season. Ol' man winter needs his turn too!

My studio is starting to come together, still loads of unpacking and organizing to do. Here is a pic of my studio "pre-rehab" when we purchased the house, previously it was a bedroom. Oh yes, the previous owner's furniture/ contents was all left here for us to sift through and haul out, but that is another story.. LOL!

Packin' Up the Studio!

Hi everyone! I am taking a short break to move to our 'new' old 1920's house this month. Hubby and I have been rehabbing it for many months now, and finally this week we will have a functioning bathroom! LOL! While I get my studio set up & running again, please peruse the wonderful Peng Peng Bears available through the fine shops that carry my creations.

tinyshop will run from November 17, 2007 through January 6, 2008, at double punch gallery in San Francisco's North Beach district. Special events will be held throughout the shop's lifespan, pondering the tiny theme. Fun-spirited folks and magnifying glasses are most welcome.

Here he is! My first ever BIRD creation... "A. Foolnz", a totally new and original design! (click pics to see him big) His name is an anagram of the famous bear "Alfonzo".. named as such to celebrate Alfonzo's Centenary for Teddy Bears of Witney 2008 catalog. A. Foolnz is a close genetic relative (or mutation) of my *fattie bears (*as sweetly described by Pengy collectors).. AKA my "Buddha Bears".

He is indeed a bit on the heavy side for a winged creature, with a tendency to make a tree branch sag... but we won't hold it against him. Made of thick wavy Schulte hand-dyed mohair, handpainted glass eyes, hand-dyed pink merino felt wool beak, jointed wings, polyfil with encased steel BB's for a nice weight.

LE of only 5, available exclusively through Witney catalog and/ or their web site.

Panda Reverso- Weird Wonderful Double Reversible Panda!

Trick or Treat? Here is a special one of a kind, original design- Panda Reverso! 3 day auction on eBay ends Oct 14th Sunday.

This chubby fella measures 6" to tops of ears and about 6" wide. Made of 4 kinds of hand dyed Schulte mohair, 2 sets of handpainted glass eyes, 8 tiny jointed limbs (heads are unjointed), 2 waxed thread noses, "shared" pair of ears, and of course a shared "back"! Filled with polyfil and encased steel BB's for weight. They are like trick or treat, yin and yang, twin spirits, double personalities (or double trouble, LOL!)... 2 bears in one!

Update: China Bear Rescue Charity Auction

~Warmest heartfelt thanks~ to those who placed bids on "Little Fonzo" to help raise funds for the China Bear Rescue Campaign, sponsored by Abracadabra Teddy Bears UK.
"Little Fonzo" auction ended yesterday with a high bid of 295 GBP ($602.75 USD)! *Congrats* to the winner CL, and again thank you to all who participated & for your generosity... together we have helped give the China bears a better life :O)

::: Happy Fall Equinox ::: Even though today Chicago was quite summery, my thoughts are turned towards the cooler crisp days that Autumn brings. Here are some pics I took in the nearby forest preserves- nature walks are a favorite pastime of mine.

Just Crazy Cute!

When I opened my email and saw this pic, i said: OMGaaaaaahhh!! How insanely cute is that set up??!! Look how the knit cap is hanging up on the peg! "Oh, dear me, I forgot the kettle was on.... please sit down while i bring you in some tea and butter cookies!" The mousey friend was created by another artist (name unknownst to me). Big wide hugs to collector A.R. for sending this in :O) love it!

June Bears

A big round of HUGS to all those who adopted bears from my June listing!! You are the best!
Making the bears was a lot of fun, and lately I've been enjoying doing the limited editions. Afterwards I realized I had to make more hang tags, so I burned some midnight oil (and morning oil, if there is such a phrase!) and got those done too. They are acid-free card stock that I age to look nice and olde, embellished with archival ink of course :O)

The Archival Kid in Me

Can you believe I saved this sheet of Hallmark stickers since 1979?? I was quite an archival 9 year old! These big-headed baby animal stickers were just too darn cute to stick them on my lunch pail, so i just saved them ever so flatly in a neat little envelope (to this very day!). Old habits die hard :O)

Thanks Linda of "Original Felted Folksies" for sending these Littlest Pet Shop stickers by Hasbro, circa 2006 :) The trend continues!

Lovely Vintage

Here's a few items I picked up to add to my vintage sewing supplies stash. Sometimes I'm lucky to find 'new old stock' (meaning vintage that is unused or new in package) such as these, but I also love old n' worn vintage fabrics & trims; the fun is in the combining of it all to make my unique Sock Monkey outfits :O)
