menopausal idol

Clara is a 96 year old gal full of wit, humor and spunk. Gotta love her red sweater! (she has drawer fulls of red sweaters, fyi). she grew up in CHICAGO during the great depression... in 1935 she roller skated to her job at Hostess factory filling twinkies, then on the way home would stop to pull dandelions out of the ground to use for salads. she actually gained weight during the leanest of times (wonder if that's any connection to the twinkie-filling job, lol) from resourceful home cooked meals with simple basic ingredients.

i came across her cooking videos last year and she is my menopausal idol! i cook all our meals, bake our own bread, and avoid all processed foods. Clara is living proof of what home cooking/ self-reliance can do. "mangia bene, vivi felice" (eat well, live happy)

diamond dogs

"young girl.. they call them the diamond dogs" - david bowie
this is a special order doxie i just finished up. her argyle outfit is individually sewn on tiny wool felt diamonds. yes i am crazy, but you already know that! her name of course is Diamonde. gold chain leash with leather handle, a functional/ fashionable accessory for any lady pup.

i'm definitely stealing this idea! this pic was sent in by a collector who came up with a clever way to display her peng peng dachshunds: the guy is walking the gal. i can just hear bow-tie saying in a Bogart voice "you belong to me sweetheart! let's go!"

i'm working on a larger, or shall i say longer-sized doxie in Alfonzo red (that's red mohair with yellow backing). a limited edition of two. will be sure to let you know when they are available.

Paladin Paladin, where did you goooo....

bob dylan stole this look.

so bummed our current favorite TV series "Have Gun Will Travel" has been pulled off Netflix streaming due to contract split with Starz Play. damn them! we've been marathon watching 2 episodes a night, trying to squeeze in as much Paladin as possible. and there was still a gazillion episodes left! i love the Ballad of Paladin by Johnny Western at the end of each show... as Richard Boone rides off into the valley. farewell my pal Paladin!

unleashed

since my "puppy love" update last month, i've been busy finishing up special order dachshunds (always have to check the spelling on that :) literally a litter of 'em! the first "leash" i used was a vintage watch chain i had.. the perfect length for a mini dog. thus, i had to figure out a way to make more leashes. luckily i found nice chains at the thrift store, and after thinning out links i made them into sweet rolo chain leashes. the finishing touch is a real leather handle, cut from a swatch from under our Bernhardt leather chair:

some high quality stuff for the pups!

mini mohair dachshund dax

now who wants to take me for a walk in the park?
