since my "puppy love" update last month, i've been busy finishing up special order dachshunds (always have to check the spelling on that :) literally a litter of 'em! the first "leash" i used was a vintage watch chain i had.. the perfect length for a mini dog. thus, i had to figure out a way to make more leashes. luckily i found nice chains at the thrift store, and after thinning out links i made them into sweet rolo chain leashes. the finishing touch is a real leather handle, cut from a swatch from under our Bernhardt leather chair:

March PFATT Marketplace: my dear friend Froggie!

spring has arrived! what a mild winter we had... not once did i have to shovel snow (knock on wood, march is not yet over!). out from under the covers and with a spring in his step... may i reintroduce a beloved friend of mine, Froggie! he has been my companion since 2010, a beloved silly little monkey who is seeking to further his horizons. these pics are from a photo session for a british teddy bear mag. Froggie is my special PFATT Marketplace offering for March, being green and all :) he has a wonderful feeling about him, you must hold him to appreciate his full charisma.

thanks to everyone for the wonderful response about my new pups! there is still one little doggie needing a forever home: Snoopy (tie dyed mutt), house-trained and looking for love.

new mini dogs today!

new giraffe design!

almost a year in the making (see this post), finally i have unveiled my giraffe design today on PFATT Marketplace! Zola (= african for "love") had been very patiently sitting on my studio shelf awaiting tail, ears, face, horns for many months. i kept procrastinating figuring out the final details so i'm happy she turned out incredibly sweet. Zola is 7 3/4" tall or 6.5" seated, so she is a perfect momma for your mini bears. a little something to warm your heart on this snowy february day ♥ adopted, thank u!

family pawtrait special order

the real-life inspiration:

last month i completed a unique extra special special order. i was commissioned to create a family "pawtrait" of a loving couple, Darin + Nancy and their 2 cats to celebrate Nancy's big 60th birthday. it was to be the centerpiece (main gift) of a party aptly themed "life's a bear". i used tie dye mohair for Darin to represent his tattoos. the bears/ cats sit atop the family lily pad. as i was nearing completion of the set, Darin informed me of some exciting news! they just adopted an italian greyhound pup and asked if i could include him in the portrait too. so i came up with a totally new mini dog design, and was pretty pleased with the results (their pup is pictured top right, bottom left pic i googled for additional reference):
